Summer Camp (Beginner)

Your entry into the world of drones with coding and drone racing

The summer camps of the DroneMasters Academy open playful access to digitalization and aerodynamics with drones and aerial robotics.
The DroneMasters Academy combines a passion for drones with enthusiasm for emerging technologies.
The course formats cover numerous emerging technology areas, from electric mobility to 3D design and printing, preparing participants for the challenges of the future.
Starting with the ages of 10 participants will learn how to handle age-appropriate drone systems in our four- and five-day workshops. Under the guidance of experienced trainers and instructors, students will first learn to fly remotely piloted and line of sight and later how to program drones, as well as the safe handling and operation.
Since 2017, the summer camps of the DroneMasters Academy have given the younger generation access and inspiration to future-oriented technology and developments in the education and employment sector.
We host summer camps during the regular school vacations.

The DroneMasters Academy Summer Camps aim to get children and young people excited about drones and future technologies. They will be introduced to the basic physics of flying, learn about the structure and components of drones, get an introduction to coding and computer science, and fly their very own final obstacle course.
In all areas of the Summer Camps, the juniors are encouraged to contribute their own ideas and solutions. We place special emphasis on developing both technical and social skills, group interaction, and the application of dedicated learning outcomes toward emerging future challenges, such as electromobility, sustainability, and autonomous systems.
The courses cover several important areas of learning Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Maths (STEM), all introduced in an engaging, hands-on, and age-appropriate way.

The workshop program takes place between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. each day. Supervision of the participants is provided from 9 am to 5 pm.

Day 1 - Let's go

The DroneMasters Academy summer camp begins with a relaxed introduction to the world of drones. Your Academy instructors will give you an overview of aerodynamics and the components of rotor systems. Then, you'll examine the structure and electronics of drones and learn about the legal and safety basics of aviation. At the end of the first day, you will fly your first test flight on sight.

Day 2 - Take Off

More basics, more flying. In addition, you will be familiarized with the programming of drones. To quickly gain flight experience, you will be intensively supported by the Academy trainers and can train on the flight simulator.

Day 3 - Try out

Everyone discovers their own preferences in dealing with drones. Be it flying on sight, on the simulator or block-based programming. Those who already have the drones well under control can put on video goggles and fly with first-person view.

Day 4 - Training

It' s all about training. In preparation for the final course the next day, you will train intensively with the drone and on the simulator. Your Academy trainers are close by and will support you with tips and tricks about drone flying.

Day 5 - Final Course

Today it's going to be racy. You can show everyone the flying skills you've acquired during the week! But first, you'll get a quick introduction to the basic rules and behavior of drone flying. When flying through the final course, all your skills will be required. Finally, everyone will be awarded for their achievements with the official DroneMasters Academy certificate.

The program is intended to provide an exemplary flow of the course. Depending on the weather and the interests and progress of the participants, the focus on specific content may vary. The four-day courses convey the same knowledge in a condensed form.
