In North Rhine-Westphalia the DroneMasters Academy has been running holiday courses for children and teenagers in various cities since 2022. Participants not only learn how to handle drones properly, but also gain fascinating insights into programming, into current and future applications, and into the new careers emerging around them.
Over the coming years a permanent DroneMasters Academy site is to be established in Cologne, giving people of every age the chance to gain hands-on experience with new technologies, give free rein to their own inventiveness and sharpen their understanding of why robotics matters.

Holiday fun with drones!
The holiday courses run by the DroneMasters Academy open up the fascinating world of drones and flying robotics in a playful way. The four- and five-day workshops offer plenty of fun flying and coding, and provide a unique introduction to new technologies and future careers.
Age group: 10–15 years
The workshop programme runs from 10:00 to 16:00. Supervision is provided from 09:30 to 17:00. Drinks are provided; participants bring their own lunch.

Unauthorised drone flights over sites in need of protection are increasing sharply, and today it is usually people who have to decide whether and how an organisation responds correctly. Over two intensive days on site, the Drone Protection Officer (DMA) certification gives security managers the knowledge they need to fill this role in their own organisation: the legal framework including the German Critical Infrastructure Umbrella Act and NIS2, drone technology and detection methods, risk assessment, human factors in critical situations, reporting and response processes, and cooperation with the police and public authorities.
Live demonstrations and hands-on flying make the threat tangible: just how fast an FPV drone really is, and what commercially available drones sound like at different altitudes. The course concludes with an examination. Graduates carry the title “Drone Protection Officer (DMA)” with a digital seal that can be verified online in the DroneMasters register.
