Advanced Course in Drone Safety (bavAIRia)
Technology and Procurement: From Requirements Specifications to the Right Solution—with Manufacturers and Users
The training program to become a Drone Safety Officer (DMA) is intentionally technology-agnostic: It covers risk, legal issues, organization, and procedures—and culminates in your ability to formulate a requirements profile for drone safety at your location. The advanced course takes it a step further: Which technologies meet this profile? What can radar, radio reconnaissance, camera and infrared systems, AI-based classification, and sensor fusion actually achieve today—and what are their limitations?
The advanced course is organized by bavAIRia; the DroneMasters Academy serves as a technical partner and, at the outset, bridges the gap between continuing education and technology decisions. It is not a sales event for individual manufacturers, but rather a neutral platform connecting users, safety officers, government agencies, and technology providers.
Schedule
- Introduction – From Organization to Technology: What Drone Safety Officers Need to Bring to the Table, and What Technology Must Deliver (DroneMasters Academy)
- Situation Overview – Current Threat Landscape and Typical Scenarios
- Technology Forum – Radar, RF detection and radio reconnaissance, camera and IR systems, AI-based classification, sensor fusion, situational awareness and alert systems; with manufacturers and users: Which technology detects which drone? What ranges are realistic? What false alarms occur?
- Case Study – From Requirements Profile to a Concept for Your Own Site
- Discussion – At what point does a system become worthwhile? Purchase or service? What minimum standards make sense?
Target Audience
Drone Protection Officers (DMA) who wish to translate their job requirements into a protection plan—as well as security managers, plant security managers, facility and risk managers, critical infrastructure and airport operators, government agencies, and emergency services with relevant guidelines.
Learning Objectives
- Realistically assess typical detection systems and their operational limitations
- Understand the differences between radar, radio, electro-optical, infrared, and multisensor systems
- Determine and prioritize requirements for your own location
- Compile the components of a protection concept
- Formulate initial technical requirements for procurement—whether as a purchase or as a service
- Integrate operational organization, situational awareness, and reporting chains with the technology
